Why I Don’t Offer Mini Sessions
If you’ve followed me for a while, you may have noticed that I don’t offer mini sessions. And if you’ve ever wondered why, I thought I’d share a little more about that!I totally get the appeal of mini sessions. They’re shorter, they’re usually a little less expensive, and they seem like an easy way to get a few updated photos.But when it comes to my photography business, I’ve intentionally chosen to focus on full sessions instead. And especially when it comes to senior and family portraits, there are a few reasons why!
I Don’t Want You to Feel Rushed
Senior year is a big deal! There’s so much happening, so much changing, and so much to celebrate. Your senior portraits should be fun, not something we have to hurry through. When I photograph high school seniors all around Lafayette, Indiana, I want them to have time to relax, get comfortable in front of the camera, and actually enjoy the experience. Not everyone walks into a session feeling like a natural model, and that's completely okay! Sometimes it takes a little time to shake off the nerves, figure out what to do with your hands, and realize that this is actually FUN. I want us to have that time. I don't want to be watching the clock or feeling like we have to rush to get through every pose before our time is up.
I Want Variety in Your Senior Pictures
One of my favorite things about senior portraits is getting to show off all the different sides of a senior's personality.
Maybe you're involved in sports, love music, have a favorite outfit you can't wait to wear, or want a mix of dressy and casual photos. Maybe you have a specific location in mind or want to try a few different looks. That's part of what makes senior pictures YOURS! With a full senior portrait session, we have more flexibility to change outfits, explore different poses, use different backgrounds, and create a gallery with plenty of variety. I don't want you to feel like you have to choose just one little piece of your personality because we're short on time. I want your senior pictures to feel like you, right now, in this season of your life.
Sometimes the Best Photos Happen Once You Relax
Let's be honest. Having your picture taken can feel a little awkward at first, especially if you're not used to being in front of the camera! That's why I love having time to chat, laugh, try different things, and get past that initial awkwardness.
Some of my favorite images happen when we're just having fun and you're no longer thinking about what to do with your hands or whether your smile looks right. That's the kind of experience I want for my seniors. I want you to leave your session thinking, "That was actually so much fun!" instead of feeling like you just completed a photoshoot checklist.
I Want to Give You the Best Experience Possible
As a senior portrait photographer serving Lafayette, Indiana, and the surrounding areas, my goal is to create more than just a few pretty pictures. I want you to have an experience that celebrates who you are and gives you images you'll love looking back on years from now. Senior year goes by SO fast. (Parents, I know you're probably already thinking about how that can possibly be true!) These photos are about more than having something to post on Instagram. They're a way to remember this stage of life, all the things that make you YOU, and the person you're becoming. I want to give that experience the time it deserves. So, Will I Ever Offer Mini Sessions?
For now, I'm sticking with full sessions because I truly believe they allow me to serve my seniors best.
Mini sessions aren't a bad thing, and I know they work wonderfully for some photographers! They're just not the best fit for the kind of senior portrait experience I want to provide. I'd rather spend the time getting to know you, having my team pamper you with hair + makeup, creating a variety of images, and making sure you walk away with a gallery you absolutely love.
